Members of the film and television industry have the option of accessing non-financial assistance from a variety of organisations and guilds which work to support them in various ways.
Women in Film and Television (WIFT)
WIFT NZ endeavours to raise the profile of women in the New Zealand film and television industry. It offers training, advice and collegial support.
WIFT Wellington started in 1993 followed by WIFT Auckland in 1995, and in 2009 the two chapters merged to become WIFT NZ. See history to the right.
WIFT NZ is affiliated to WIFT International (WIFTI) (www.wifti.org/), a global network dedicated to advancing professional development and achievement for women working in all areas of film, video and screen-based media.

Script to Screen (www.script-to-screen.co.nz) is an independent, industry wide initiative, established to develop the culture of screenwriting in Aotearoa / New Zealand. It is a charitable trust that is core funded by the New Zealand Film Commission and governed by a board of trustees. who are appointed by the New Zealand Writers Guild, Nga Aho Whakaari, and the New Zealand Film Commission
Nga Aho Whakaari - Maori in Film Video and Television Inc
Nga Aho Whakaari (www.ngaahowhakaari.co.nz) is the national representative body for Maori working in film, video and television in New Zealand. Members range from actors, directors and independent production companies to presenters, producers, technicians, writers, broadcasting students and educators.

Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance (www.alliance.net.nz) is an Australian Union covering actors (for live and recorded performance), journalists, technicians, musicians and outdoor events staff in contracts, disputes, training, occupational health and safety, and other professional issues. The association formerly representing New Zealand actors who belonging to this association was Actors’ Equity.

Independent Images Inc (canterbury.cyberplace.org.nz) works to nurture New Zealand independent films and videos by creating a supportive network of active and like-minded people. They facilitate and support a diverse range of moving image screenings and events. It is their objective to provide members and similar organisations with a valuable network of contacts and information resources.

Information is on locations, facilities, crews, permits, immigration, transportation and accommodation for film and programme makers.

Investment New Zealand
Investment New Zealand (www.investmentnz.govt.nz) is NZ’s national investment promotion agency. It is a division of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) (www.nzte.govt.nz). Its principal aim is to increase the quality and quantity of sustainable foreign direct investment into NZ. The screen production industry constitutes a major focus for Investment New Zealand. As strategic partners Investment New Zealand and Film New Zealand actively collaborate in attracting screen productions to New Zealand.
