Journalists in NZ join The Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union, EPMU. Through this, the EPMU Journalists Network Newsletter is produced . This provides a forum, written by and for journalists, where issues affecting the industry and the people working in it can be discussed.
The Advertising Standards Authority known as ASA, self-regulates advertising in New Zealand. Advertising Codes of Practice provide the rules by which all advertisements in all media are required to comply.
The New Zealand Press Council considers complaints against newspapers and other publications, such as magazines. Such complaints must be directed at editorial content. The Council aims to promote freedom of speech and freedom of the press in New Zealand and to maintain the New Zealand press in accordance with the highest professional standards.
