Why is NZ unique?

• There is no national newspaper.
• Radio New Zealand is the only public service broadcaster in the Reithian sense.
• New Zealand has more radio stations than any other nation per head of population.
• BUT only a handful of people own the media companies.
  
• TVNZ is state owned but is highly commercial.
  
• TV3 is commercially owned but is given public money to make programmes.
• Not everyone has access to broadband. 
• We are still sorting out our media commons
